Generally cut flowers are not as sensitive as roses. A more casual time can be taken
when changing water or rearranging the flowers in a vase or container. Always clean-cut
1 inch or so from the bottom of the stems with a razor sharp knife at a 45-degree
angle so the decaying or clogged tissue at the bottom of the stems is removed. This
allows the flowers to drink freely. Remember to put them into the water (water &
preservative) ASAP. If flower food is not available to make hydrating solution;
an emergency substitute is 7up or Sprite at the rate of 6 oz to a gallon of water
may be used.
- Keep Cut Flowers out of direct sunlight, indirect or filtered light only.
- Keep Cut Flowers out of drafts of cooling and heating systems, this can shock them.
- Heat, above 80 degrees, can dramatically shorten the life of your flowers.
- Temperatures above 90 degrees will cause some wilting and damage to your flowers.
- Transporting flowers from the office to home is difficult, exercise caution.
- Do not lock them in your hot car while you shop on the way home.
You can expect 7 to 10 days with proper care.
